Stock Market Pullbacks since the Financial Crisis
This is a great visual chart of the major pullbacks in the S&P 500 since the end of Financial Crisis (2009). From the prior recession low, just over a decade ago, there have been many bumps in the road but we have seen stock markets move significantly higher. The chart below illustrates the reasons and size of those market pullbacks.
COVID-19 has had a dramatic impact on the the stock market, yet we have seen stock markets recover in near record fashion. The global economy moved into a recession and no doubt there will be a lasting impact on how we live our lives. But similar to past economic disruptions and market corrections, hindsight offers you the lens to of time and understanding that making financial decisions during a time of heightened emotion can often lead to a detrimental outcome.
